Development Focus
New City targets residential, mixed use and commercial development projects with a focus on emerging neighborhoods that are ripe for growth but plagued with physical decay, lack of economic opportunity, crime and drug use. New City seeks to build “sustainable communities” in these urban neighborhoods by identifying the right mix of residential, commercial, educational, health care, technological and environmental drivers that will successfully create lasting change.
Much of New City’s development work to date has been in the Baltimore neighborhood of Washington Village. In Washington Village, New City has redeveloped entire neighborhood blocks, which has included the gutting and rehabbing of over 30 shell houses in this community..
Other upcoming development projects include:
- Development of vacant land as new housing
- Rehabilitation of multifamily residential complexes
- Assemblage and redevelopment of vacant buildings as retail and residential units
